How do I work in projects with the new navigation?

Navigating to a project

After you have logged in to Webforum, you typically end up on the Start page. From there, you easily reach your project by clicking on "select project" in the header. This will open a list of the projects you have recently accessed with the option of searching for any project. Clicking on a project name will take you to the project overview. Clicking on the small arrow to the right on the project name will open a meny in which you can go straight to one of the modules of the project, for instance the project documents.

You can also continue using the grey project box on the left of the Start page which has the same functionality.

Navigating in a project

There are three main parts of the navigation, circled in grey in the image below.

The "hamburger" opens the navigation within a project

When you are in a project, the red side menu shows the available modules - for instance documents, issue lists, and members. It is collapsed to show only icons in order to save space for your work. You can see what the different icons mean by moving your mouse over them. Or simply click on the three lines on top of the red menu - the "hamburger" -  to expand the side menu and get the full name of the modules. The icons are the same in all projects on your workspace and you will soon know which modules they represent. A small white arrow indicates the currently open module.

The project selector is always available to quickly navigate to another project

Clicking on the name of the project opens the same project chooser as on the start page. It lists your latest projects with the possibility of searching for other projects and includes the possibility to navigate straight to a particular module in another project.

The waffle leads the way to overviews and compilations

Up to the right in new Webforum, you can find modules that are umbrellas across all projects.Clicking on the "waffle" opens a menu which allows you to navigate to the top level document archive with documents from all projects as well as joint documentation. You can also find the Contacts module which lists all users on the workspace, and an issue list for all issues from all issue lists in all your projects. In this menu, workspace administrators also find the tool to invite and manage users and set up workspace-wide groups.  Typically, different users have very varying access to these overviews and compilations.

Quickly grasping the context

In order to increase clarity in the new navigation we have put all the navigation iside a project in the red side menu and all navigation for the overall workspace in the waffle menu (other tools). This gives a clear indication of context - if you are in a project, you will see the red side menu! The name of the project is shown at the top in red and in a smaller bar underneath is the name of the current module, like Documents or Members. If you are in an overview across projects, there is no red side menu, the name of the workspace is at the top, in black, and in the smaller bar underneath is the name of the overview module. In this mode you can find the project chooser at the top in red.

More tips!

At the top to the right you can always find, apart from the waffle, some other practical tools.
